What manner of political suicide is this?
In case you didn’t know, Donald Trump invaded Iran.
Our trend rate of growth is currently about 1% and we’re really starting to feel the “post Brexit slump”
The country has been broken for years. The country is massively divided. Mainly along Brexit lines…we’ve been in a “cost of living crisis” since 2021.
And what do the Labour government with a majority of about 150+ decide to do with their precious days in government?
They’re frittering it away on a leadership contest.
Make no mistake. All those seeking to wield the knife are by definition unfit to wear the crown.
Be ye Burnham, Raynor, or Streeting.
All these fine people fit for Prime Minister.
Not only do they lack a domestic agenda may I remind everyone that a lot of our problems are global and part of the job is not only leading the Labour Party, the British people, but also global leadership in areas of foreign policy, the environment, AI among others.
Why, pray tell would we want the political version of children (except Burnham whose time has passed and he had exiled himself) to lead the country in such dangerous times?
Streeting is a power grabbing fool. He has quite a big brief; Health Secretary and aside from antagonising the junior doctors, what has he achieved?
He’s bottled it. He’s terrified of the phrase “he who wields the knife never wears the crown”
And in doing so he’s proved he doesn’t have what it takes. He wants really to be in the Burnham government. His resignation was so premature. Calling for “the widest possible contest”
Raynor then in short order got her tax affairs in order… to no consequence at all.
Burnham persuaded some man called Josh Simons to give up his seat. Can we take a moment to talk about how wealthy you need to be to give up a job that guaranteed you an income for the next 3 and a third years he gave up £324k in future earnings for this parliament alone in a stagnant economy and a weak jobs market. Not many jobs pay an MP salary of £99k. He’s made himself poorer, possibly for the rest of his life banking on Burnham becoming Prime Minister and that he gets a recompensatory job for his loyalty.
Must be nice to be able to plan your financial future asked on “loyalty”
Must be nice to know you will be taken care of and not just making the biggest mistake of your life. One that your children will rue.
I can’t believe I started writing this at the beginning of the month and barring Andy Burnham actually forcing a by-election that absolutely nothing has changed. Not at all.
And Kier Starmer is still here as if nothing is happening.
Labour isn’t the Tories. The Tories are known and sometimes forgiven for their barbarous love of political bloodletting. This last lot will not be forgiven though. Basically Cameron shouldn’t have been allowed to resign after Brexit and Boris was a wholly foreseeable disaster. Truss was another.
Labour wouldn’t be forgiven for their folly. Labour are meant to be the chav hugging liberals. They love the despondent, so they should be able to get along.
The Tories, as the party of the rich show us the natural inclination for rich people to be carnivorous and at times cannibalistic. The same skills it takes you to get up the mountain aren’t the same to maintain altitude. A lesson that the Tories have yet to learn. They’ve calmed down a bit under Badenoch mainly because the public so thoroughly culled their numbers. And the few remaining recalcitrant ones have defected to Reform. Which was a catastrophic error on the part of Farage, his first ever. He’s always made the right calls despite being a deeply reprehensible person.
For a party that said they are “not the Tories” they sure do have a lot of Tories. The worst one to go was Jennerick. Not only did he make a complete ass of himself and was fired rather than quit, he is the loudest. A constant reminder of the mistake Farage made. Imagine, the man that you want to be Chancellor in another world would be leader of his Majesty’s loyal Opposition. He wants to be prime minister, he doesn’t care how he does it. Reform are a current useful idiot.
Our politicians get paid too much. Someone who is living off hand to mouth doesn’t have time to be constantly backstabbing. Someone with all their needs met and are earning a few pounds off £100k have all the time in the world to spend on political shenanigans.
The turkeys have voted for Christmas
Who will you vote for?
